Today, Thursday, February 13, 2025, the Barcelona City Council has awarded the prestigious Premios Ciutat de Barcelona, which have been held annually since 1949. These awards aim to recognize the artistic and cultural contributions linked to the city. This year marks the 75th edition of the awards.

For the first time, the public reading of the jury’s verdicts and the subsequent award ceremony will be divided into two events. The first, on Wednesday, March 12, will honor cultural awards, and the second, on Tuesday, May 27, will be dedicated to scientific awards. Both ceremonies will take place in the Saló de Cent of the Barcelona City Hall.

At Peptomyc, we are honored to announce that our CEO, Dr. Laura Soucek, has been awarded the Premio Ciutat de Barcelona in Life Sciences for her groundbreaking work that demonstrates, through a clinical trial, the validity of the MYC protein as a therapeutic target for the treatment of solid tumors.

The jury consisted of Ernest Giralt, Miriam Royo Expósito, Roderic Guigó i Serra, Elisabeth Engel López, and Salvador Ventura.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Soucek shared the following:

“Cancer is a very democratic disease: it doesn’t care if you’re young or old, it doesn’t distinguish your social status, race, or gender. I hope that its cure will also be accessible to everyone.

I want to end by emphasizing that investing in science means investing in life, in the future. And if you trust my instincts when it comes to betting, I recommend you bet on it.”

At Peptomyc, we are incredibly proud of Laura. Congratulations on this well-deserved recognition for your years of dedication and hard work!
